Societies that continue to house and kill need to rethink their
priorities and commitment to their animals and donors need to rethink
ASK: What are the shelters’ statistics?
- Do the statistics lie?
- Does the shelter use the disingenuous phrase “ % of
adoptable animals??” What happens to animals that are temporarily
“unadoptable?’ For instance, if a kitten is killed because she
has a cold (an upper respiratory infection), is that kitten hidden from
the statistics as “unadoptable?”
- Are euthanasias hidden as “owner requests?”
- Are feral cats not counted on intake and not counted
in the death tolls as they go straight to the euthanasia room as if
they never existed?
- What is the total number of admissions and the total number of animals that leave alive?
There are no requirements for uniform reporting of kill rates in “humane societies”. WHY NOT???
Does the shelter make the public “feel good” with low kill rates to
encourage donations? When the public is deceived about the true
kill rates in a shelter in order to raise money, is that FRAUD???
Make no mistake, “Humane” Societies are the leading cause of death for cats and dogs in this country!
